Rolling Over Like a Pro!

Rolling from front to back now- tummy time is paying off! He hasn't rolled from back to front yet, but I'm sure that's next. Time to stop laying him on the couch!

Some Summer Cuteness

Lately we have been hanging out at the pool with the cool kids, going to the library and earning free Great Harvest Cookies from their summer reading program, and just generally growing up too fast.

Kid Quotes

Miles is the bad word police lately. The other day he said, "Mom!!! That show just said the 'S' word! No, not the 'S' word, it was the "SH" word!!!" Oh great, I thought... but it was a kids show so I was skeptical... so I asked him what the word was. In a very serious voice, he said, "Shut UP!" Phew!

The kids were playing "Olden Days" - not sure what that means, maybe everyone has rotary phones and pagers... but as part of the game, Claire said, "Let's barter!" and proceeded to give Miles and Penelope a very accurate definition of the word. And apparently in the "olden days" people had British accents. So, in her best accent, Claire said, "I will barter you one Grandma Sycamore's cookie. It's the best in New York!" Now, mind you, Grandma Sycamore is the name of the fabulous white bread we buy at Costco... They also asked me if they could barter a Capri Sun and some limes. Why not? Later, I heard Claire say, "I have three limes for the family!" (still in a British accent, by the way).

Sundays are crazy around here - Matt is the Executive Secretary for our ward, which basically means wherever the Bishop is, so goes Matt. He is gone at a lot of meetings before and after church, leaving me to get all four kids, and when time permits, myself, ready for church. One Sunday I had to dry Miles church pants in the morning, and he was whining about having to wait for them to get out of the dryer. Then he was just plain upset he had to get dressed in the first place. With all the disgust he could muster, he said, "So, you're saying I have to wear PANTS to church???!!"  Yes Miles. That's exactly what I'm saying.

Penelope asked me, "Mom, can I have a fruit by the toe?" It took me a good couple of minutes to realize she meant the Fruit by the Foot fruit rolls.

Cool glasses at the new dentist office - No cavities!

While we were at Becky's house, the kids enjoy having a whole new set of toys to play with, even if these city kids aren't super familiar with all of them. Penelope told Becky, "I'm gonna go vacuum the grass..." Becky was confused until she realized Penelope meant she was going to use the play lawn mower outside.

Miles was stung by a hornet up in Cedar City while we played at the park. McKinley and Gabe told him it was a hornet, but it looked like a bee to him so he started calling it a Horn-Bee. He has never been stung by one before and he cried, "Mom, why did God even invent Horn-Bees!" Then he said, "Well, do Horn-Bees have horns??" Good question - I don't think so...

Henry - 3 Months!

Henry laughed for the first time right when he turned 3 months old - Claire got him to laugh and it was so cute!!

He is a good baby - his sleep is kind of inconsistent, some nights he does great and sleeps 6 hours at once, but lately most nights he is awake every 3-4 hours. I try to go to bed early but sometimes it's not possible, or I just need to be awake without the kids for a bit.

Henry's nicknames are already adding up - I have mentioned a few, like Hank and Bubba. Mr. Henry, Henry the Baby, and Bubbalicious have also been popular .

Summer Bingo

We are doing our Summer Bingo again and I am trying to do a good mix of things the kids can do on their own, and things that require a bit more set up, or travel. Claire and Miles are pretty competitive about earning their tickets for each Bingo they receive.

Here are a few things we have been doing:

Painting and Arts & Crafts

The Splash Park

We tried new food - Vietnamese

Bike Riding - Before 9 am when possible... still hot!

Kendama tournament - here are the "rules" Claire and Miles came up with.
Matt and I got in on this one and battled with the kids.
