The "WHAT Did She Say?" Version of Kid Quotes

We are guessing this is a result of watching the movie Matilda where Danny DeVito has a bit of a potty mouth... and Claire knows just how to use this gem now. So glad she tested it out at Emily's house... sorry Em!

Vintage Barbie

Aunt Jen brought her old Barbie collection for Claire to play with - I estimate they are from the early 80s and they are awesome! The clothes remind me of Ken in Toy Story 3 - Barbie, not the Beirut Collection!! Claire is in heaven. She took these pictures of her new toys.

I never knew there were collector cards for Barbies :)

Claire picked this as her favorite Barbie and outfit

Quotes

Miles has an opinion on the clothes he wears now - I just have one child left who will let me dress her however I want. How long will that last, I wonder? Anyway, we were getting ready for church and Miles insists on wearing a tie with his polo shirt and adorable green and blue sweater vest - I tried to explain to him that he didn't need a tie with the polo shirt, let alone the red tie he wanted to wear. I said, "Miles, you don't have any red in your outfit, it doesn't match." He looked in the mirror and said, "Well, my lips are red?"

We went to a local pizza place the other day for dinner (Metro Pizza) and they seated us way in the back, something that happens often when you go to a restaurant with three kids who look like they will be a bit loud and rowdy. We got a circle booth with plenty of room for everyone. Miles takes one look at the table and loudly announces, "Well this is nice and cozy!"

If we are ever in the car or waiting somewhere for any amount of time, Miles says, "Do you want to play 'My Turn, Your Turn?" This is a game, sort of, where you take turns answering based on a theme that Miles chooses. For example, recent rounds of My Turn, Your Turn have included, name your favorite crocodile (Miles' is a purple one), name your favorite animal that lives underwater, and name your favorite animal on a farm. It keeps him occupied during the ride home.

Here he is with a dirty tear stained face - he is such a rough and tumble little boy but is still so sensitive.

Goal Update

Unfortunately I don't have any weight loss to report for last month, but I did want to note a goal accomplished that I forgot to post. I can now wear both my engagement ring and my wedding ring together! I am so happy that I can wear them again - I really felt weird to not have them on. Now then, when did my hands start looking like an old lady's?

I am getting strict with my eating habits again - DAY ONE! as I always say. Starting over, trying to not let small slips ruin my whole day and then the whole week - I am an all or nothing person with so many things in my life and I hope I can change that someday. So, since I have been just doing the "nothing" side for awhile, it's time for a little bit of the "all." It's already the middle of June - where has this year gone? I was supposed to be almost at my goal soon... alas, back to basics with DAY ONE.

Conference Burn Out

Walking into this room filled with strangers all week, and many others, has worn me out! I had a marketing conference at the Bellagio and I have decided going to them alone is seriously tough. It is hard to be in networking mode all day, but the conference was pretty good. Hit and miss on some of the sessions, but good to be out of the office for a bit. And the Bellagio atrium was a nice change of scenery.

Summer Reading!

I distinctly remember getting my first library card. And now Claire has her own card too. She was so excited to get a card wallet too :) We are doing the summer reading program with the library and Claire and Miles are on their way to a few new books.

Kinder Graduation

Claire is on her way to first grade! She had kindergarten graduation where her class put on a cute performance complete with songs, poems and a video of photos throughout the year. I will add videos soon!

Here are the Pinnacle Ward kiddos - it was so nice to already know so many kids in Claire's class.

Tiger Lilies Last Game of the Season

And next season? Matt steps up to Head Coach and the team is moving up an age group... Claire will yet again be the youngest in the league, most likely. Luckily we take the summer off - it's just too hot for outdoor soccer. It was around 100 degrees on our last game - we were all a little toasty.

Beau's B-day!

Beau turned one on Memorial Day - both Penelope and Beau's birthdays fell on holidays this year, but their big day was the main focus, of course. Beau wasn't crazy about smashing his cake but he did look dang cute playing with his frosting.

Bounce House!

Makin' S'mores

This was Miles' "sandwich" - he opted to skip the grahams.

Grandpa and May's

Fishing at Silver Lake

We took a day trip to Silver Lake while in California. My dad took Matt and Miles fishing early in the morning, and the ladies joined them for lunch. Claire was able to go out on the water too with Grandpa - they actually caught one fish! We were hoping for more, but it was still a good day. My dad has some significant memories of his grandpa taking him fishing in Idaho, so it was pretty cool to see the tradition continue.

I didn't come prepared for colder weather at all - we had swimsuits, shorts and t-shirts. Isn't the rest of the country sweating too? So I ran to WalMart and hoped to find a few cold weather items on clearance - Las Vegas has been all bathing suits and tank tops for a few months now so I wasn't hopeful. But I did manage to find a few coats and long sleeve shirts that the kids will probably wear exactly once, but it was worth it. I know Miles would have been absolutely no fun if he were cold. My kids and cold weather do NOT mix. I managed to stay comfortable in a t-shirt if I stayed in the sun - I thought it was a great trip with great weather. I am reminded again of how much I miss trees, water and really any plants that aren't landscaped.

Before we could go fishing we had to find some worms in the front lawn.

Out at the lake, Penelope, Mom and I stayed on the shore while everyone took turns fishing. Then we took a nature walk around part of the lake.
