Kid Quotes

Penelope put on some leggings and an old pajama top that somehow escaped my donation bag. I told her it was way too small - her stomach was showing a bit. She said, "It's ok, they fit. My pants will do all the work!" And then she sucked in her stomach and hiked up her pants.

There is a group of girls around Penelope's age who play together during Miles' soccer practice.  She came up to me and asked for a snack or drink or something, and then she dramatically turned back to the other girls and said, "OK - Back to the lipstick mystery!" I have no idea what she meant by that but it was classic Penelope.

We were backing out of our driveway and I looked in the rearview mirror and saw a girl up the hill from our house sitting on a skateboard being pulled by her dog (we live near where another road intersects with ours).  I said I needed to hurry up and get on the road so she wouldn't skate right into our car. Miles said, "She's gonna hit our car Mom!" Penelope looked back and said, "Nope. NOT today lady!"

70 Reasons We Love Betty

For her 70th birthday, we made a video of more than 70 things we love about Betty. Friends and family, near and far, contributed. I wish I had time to ask more people, but we got some great stories and memories and easily had 70 items.

Here are a few that I particularly liked.

Mema's Birthday - 70!

We celebrated Betty's 70th birthday with a Mexican feast at Ken and Jonelle's house. The kids had fun outside in their huge backyard, playing in a hammock swing and running around the tennis court.

Park Day!

A lazy Saturday was in order - soccer games will start soon enough and Matt is still busy with work on Saturdays, so the kids and I hung out a bit and then ventured out to the park to enjoy our Spring while it lasts. I grabbed my camera to practice some more with the kids - I am trying to not be too annoying about it but it's really fun for me! Yay for a new hobby! Well, you can't really count my skills with the iPhone camera as real photography, so yeah, this is new for me.

The visit wouldn't be complete with out a few times down the cement slides - Henry finally made it up the stairs to take a trip down too.

We went out to enjoy the weather but ended up hot and sweaty - so when an entrepreneurial snow cone vendor set up shop at the park, I couldn't say no. Poor Henry has inherited the red-faced gene too!
