Tricks

Kids never perform their tricks when you want them to - but I managed to get Miles showing off some of his skills. He has been doing these for awhile, but he is very good at avoiding or stealing the camera when I try to capture him signing. He is not as interested in talking but he is picking up even more signs lately. I try to get him to say a word out loud and he just repeatedly signs it back to me, so I hope this doesn't backfire on us. But, boys talk later than girls, so I hear, so I'm not really worried.

Here are the words Miles can sign - though I couldn't remember to ask him to do all of them on the video:

Back in Gymnastics

We are trying gymnastics again at Mirabelli Community Center - and then back to ballet in March. Claire answers differently every time I ask her which one she likes best, so for now we are just mixing it up! And this time, with friends - Reagan is now in our class, which gives me a friend to talk to while we are watching the girls. I had my camera on the wrong setting on this first one, but I thought it was cute because Claire is the blur on the right - she would just run with those ribbons the whole time and be happy.

Bristow in VEGAS!

One of the great things about Vegas is eventually, all roads travel through it... as in you eventually will come to Las Vegas for some reason or another, and when you do, you get to see ME! :) I got to visit for a few hours with one of my favorite people and college roomie Jami Bristow. It has been almost 6 years since she has been here - and now we need to plan something else so all the roommates can get together.

Meeting at Cafe Rio - where else?

Good Free Fun

With a visit from my sister and her family, we had to make a stop at Bass Pro Shop and the Silverton- cool fish, hanging out on expensive boats and toys, talking to a scuba diver while he feeds the tropical fish, and running around looking at all the animals is a great way to burn off some energy. The goal for most days is to wear out our kids before naptime.

Happy Birthday Becky!

Yeah, It's January...

...And we went swimming! It was almost 70 degrees today and we went swimming at my sister's timeshare. The water was heated at least, so we aren't that crazy. The kids had so much fun! Miles was especially brave and kept doing a dead man's fall straight into the water on the shallow ledge - though he did jump right off the ledge once and didn't even cry when Matt grabbed him out of the water. I think this summer we will see his inner daredevil come out even more.

Mama Claire

Miles has been very clingy lately - especially if he's tired or just after he wakes up from a nap. He was needing some cuddle time so I put him down with Claire so I could work on dinner. He was fussy but quieted down next to Claire, and she hugged him and whispered to him "It's gonna be alright buddy." Melts my heart!

Did We Really Just Have This Conversation?

Actual dialogue via text message between Matt and I today:

Me: Try to talk up to Claire how cool it would be to poop in Mema’s toilet today :)

Matt: Booya! She already went. Or should I say poo-ya! I will have her call you

Me: Yeah!!!!!! You can’t go back to school, she is a better pooper for you than for me

I can guarantee you that while dating, we never imagined we would talk about poop quite so much. I think no one wants to jump right into the “what kind of a dad will you be” questions but if you are getting serious with someone and might get married, I am happy to suggest a series of questions about being a dad/mom that will be very enlightening.
