The Classics

I am certain that I was not reading Charlotte's Web as a five year old. This girl impresses me so much with her love of reading. She stays up way too late reading her library books (I gave her a small camping lantern to indulge this habit that we share) and then she is so sleepy in the morning. She will sleep in until 8 am or later if I let her. School is going to be a shock to the system when she has to be ready and out the door around 8 am in just a few weeks. But for now, we will enjoy the classics and read as much as we want!

Disney Withdrawals

We need a Disney trip, soon! One whole year is hard to wait, though we are prepping the kids that we probably won't get to go for a while... hurry up and finish school Matt! Target graduation date: December 2014.

Splash Date!

I met up with Michelle and her Shelby at a splash park last weekend to catch up. Our little girls are just weeks apart and when you have to schedule around work, and weekends are precious, it's hard to get together. But I am so glad we did! We are both from the same small town in California, both worked at the same PR firm as our first jobs, and are now rocking the working mom gig. Lots to talk about! It was the first time we had our girls together, and I was determined to get a picture of them together even though they wouldn't stand together for very long.

These are going to be two very tall girls - let's get them on a volleyball team ASAP!

Summer Gymnastics

We are doing a gymnastics class this month just to give these kids a chance to burn off all the energy they have, and to see if they are interested in doing more classes again. We used to be regulars at Mirabelli Community Center but once Claire started soccer we haven't taken any classes. Miles was a little disappointed that they didn't go on the trampoline this time, so I am looking into a trampoline/tumbling class for him this Fall while Claire does soccer again. He would love that!

These pictures didn't turn out great because they are through the glass - parents aren't allowed on the gym floor. Once Miles is 4 (just a few more days!) he can go up a class and be with the older kids like Claire. He was definitely the tallest and oldest in the class.

Little of This and That

Few pictures I took recently of the cuteness otherwise known as Penelope. She is walking everywhere and now with this independence, she gets grouchy if you try to hold her too much or help her. She has a love/hate relationship with high chairs, as you can see in the two pictures below. Maybe the fact that she has an Oreo in her hand in the first picture has something to do with her smile...

Penelope is definitely not afraid of the water. She loves it! She wants to take a bath anytime she goes into the bathroom and tries to climb into the tub. She would walk right into the pool if you let her. She wore this borrowed life jacket at a friend's house recently and instantly decided she didn't need to be held in the water.

Dressed up for a luau with Claire, who was recreating the one we went to recently, complete with drums and dancers

All little girls play with Darth Vader bath toys, right?

Miles Swims!

For two summers now, Miles favorite and only way to swim is with his blue pool noodle. But recently, he jumped in the pool from a fairly high wall and lost his grip on the noodle. It could have been disastrous but he didn't panic. Matt just encouraged him to keep swimming and keep his head up. And he did! I was so happy he didn't get scared, and instead was able to turn the situation around. He was so happy! I think he was also showing off a bit for Claire and our friends, since he kept jumping in over and over. A little too brave now maybe...?

She Proved Me Wrong

I am pretty sure Penelope could have been walking for weeks, but just in the last day she has really started walking and getting up from the floor herself. Finally! This video was after a few long walks so she was getting grouchy with us.
