Teacher of the Game for Leah!

Leah invited us to attend the UNLV basketball game where she was awarded the Teacher of the Game, an honor she was nominated for by one of her fellow teachers at Roundy Elementary where she is a deaf education teacher. I have always admired Leah's dedication to teaching and her ability to advocate for the children in her program who often don't get the support, communication and love at home that they need.

Some other people noticed her efforts too, and awarded her with $500 towards supplies in her classroom, tickets to see a Cirque du Soleil show, tickets to the UNLV game and a cool jersey, and many other items in her award package. She was also on Channel 8 news, which showed her signing in the classroom and receiving her award.

The segment was played on the big screen at the game - it was pretty cool! We were happy to be there, along with Betty, to celebrate.

Happy 40th Anniversary Mom and Dad!

We put together some old photos, favorite memories and classic sayings from my parents for their 40th wedding anniversary and made it into a video. I started off hoping for 40 memories for 40 years, but we got way more than that - we could have made this into an hour long video. But we will settle for under 10 minutes.

Love you mom and dad! I am so grateful to have you as a loving, stable influence in my life. The more I learn (or try to) about being a parent and a spouse, the more I appreciate how your lives have impacted mine. Happy anniversary! It is quite the feat to be married so long!
