The "Real" Pumpkin Patch

On opening day of the pumpkin patch at Gilcrease Orchards in North Las Vegas, we loaded up the van and went out to enjoy our first day of cool morning weather. It was glorious! And we hardly felt like we were in the desert at all. Now if only we could have persuaded the other hundreds of visitors that it wasn't a good idea, we would have really had a great time.

We took a hayride around the orchards, stopping to pick pumpkins, though we could have stopped for various apples, pears and vegetables too.

I am still thinking about these freshly-made hot apple doughnuts and the slightly frozen slushy apple cider. We live way closer to this local orchard now, so I might have to go again soon. We can skip the hayride and go straight to the snacks.

On the way home, Miles asked when we are going to the "real" pumpkin patch - the one that sprouts up on the side of the road in an empty lot with bounce houses, petting zoos and rides. We finally did the real one and he didn't even know it!
