We spent part of our Labor Day with Aunt Cindy and Uncle Kevin up at their cabin in Mammoth Creek, Utah, about 10 miles past Duck Creek outside of Cedar City. It kind of reminded me of Northern California, with the pine trees, rivers, and the wildlife. It was a nice change of scenery - even the cold rain and clouds were welcome after the sticky threat of rain we have had for what seems like weeks in Las Vegas.
We were close to the creek and the kids loved to throw rocks and explore - they saw a snake and caught a horny toad too. I practiced my amateur photography on the kids and they were always willing to smile - such well-trained children, for photography that is.
Our favorite activity was riding the Rhino around - everyone in this little community has one, or something like it, and there were plenty of roads and trails to explore. And even when it was parked in the garage, the kids played on it for hours. It was like having one of the toys they like to play on at Bass Pro Shops all to themselves. Cindy, Claire and I got caught out in the rain on one of our drives - we went through two pretty strong bursts of rain but we were all still laughing and having fun, so it wasn't too scary. Miles was either asking to go faster or asking to go home - and then he fell asleep on our last ride, which he later denied. I never fell asleep! The pictures don't lie Miles - and they turned out cute. :)
We hope we get invited back - but I know they are closing up the cabin soon for the cold weather. Til next summer!
